Mescalero Apache man sentenced for sexual abuse of a minor

Manuel Coronado Cervantes, a member of the Mescalero Apache Tribe of New Mexico, was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for sexual abuse of a minor.

Cervantes, 59, pleaded guilty to abusive sexual contact of a 12-year-old child. The crime took place on the reservation in July 2008.

Cervantes will remain on parole for 10 years and will have to register as a sex offender.
