The
United Keetoowah Band of
Cherokee Indians in Oklahoma held an election on Monday.
Chief George Wickliffe was re-elected to his third term with 57 percent of the vote. He has presided over the tribe's first successful land-into-trust applications.
Assistant Chief Charles Locust will enter a run-off against Joe Bunch.
Locust failed to receive 50 percent of the vote, triggering the December 3 run-off.
Secretary Joyce Hawk won re-election with 51 percent of the vote.
Treasurer Ella Mae Cooksey Worley was also re-elected with 55 percent of the vote.
