Tribes in New Mexico have received $13.2 million from the state for infrastructure projects.
The Tribal Infrastructure Board, which was created by a state law in 2005, awarded the money to 16 tribes for a total of 28 projects, according to a
press release from the
Department of Indian Affairs.
The largest award of $1.6 million went to
Santa Clara Pueblo, where fires and flooding have caused environmental issues.
The law sets aside five percent of the Senior Severance Tax
Bonding Capacity to the for the Tribal Infrastructure Project Fund.
