The Mushuau Innu First Nation in Labrador is still struggling with substance abuse among its youth even after a high-profile relocation of the entire community.
Huffing among youth has gotten so bad that at least one mother has sent her child away to foster care. Another mother is contemplating the same.
"It makes me feel terrible, but I have to put my feelings as a mother and my love for him aside above everything, because his safety is more important," the woman told CBC News.
The community made national headlines due to huffing among youth.
The federal government relocated everyone from Davis Inlet to Natuashish a decade ago.
