Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes share in per caps

Members of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes of Montana waited in long lines to receive a $10,000 per capita payout on Wednesday.

Each of the tribe's approximately 7,580 members received a check. “This actually helps the membership. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime windfall," Revan Rogers told The Missoulian.

The payments represented about half of the a $150 million settlement for mismanagement of the tribe's trust funds and trust assets. The tribe hasn't decided what to do with rest of the money but some are already calling for another per cap.
