Alleged Indian Ward Churchill loses suit over university job

The Colorado Supreme Court on Monday refused to reinstate alleged Indian Ward Churchill to his job at the University of Colorado.

Churchill, who has claimed Cherokee and other Indian heritage, was fired after writing a controversial article about the September 11, 2011, terrorist attacks. A jury found that he was wrongly terminated but was only awarded $1.

Churchill went back to the courts to regain his position but the state's highest court rejected his arguments in a unanimous decision. The ruling said Churchill's actions -- which included plagiarism -- "irreparably damaged" his relationship with the university.
