The
Cocopah Tribe of Arizona is investigating its police chief after he apparently left his service firearm at a home with small children.
Police Chief James Spurgeon went to a friend's home in Yuma, Arizona, on Friday night. A six-year-old boy found the gun the next morning and pointed it at his father, The Yuma Sun reported.
“Police Chief James Spurgeon is a veteran in law enforcement with nearly 30 years of experience,” the tribe said in a statement, the paper reported. “This action is definitely out of character for Chief Spurgeon.
Authorities in Yuma are also investigating.
