Sex offender registry office opens on Wind River Reservation

Christopher A. Crofts, the
U.S. Attorney for Wyoming
, said a sex offender registration office is up and running on the Wind River Reservation.
In a
press release
, Crofts said the office took four and one-half years of collaboration with the
Eastern Shoshone Tribe
and the
Northern Arapaho Tribe
. The tribes are sharing information with federal authorities and the state of Wyoming.
The tribes also operate a
sex offender registry
on the Internet. It was developed to implement the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act, which is part of the
Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act
.
