Sex offender registry office opens on Wind River Reservation

Christopher A. Crofts, the U.S. Attorney for Wyoming, said a sex offender registration office is up and running on the Wind River Reservation.

In a press release, Crofts said the office took four and one-half years of collaboration with the Eastern Shoshone Tribe and the Northern Arapaho Tribe. The tribes are sharing information with federal authorities and the state of Wyoming.

The tribes also operate a sex offender registry on the Internet. It was developed to implement the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act, which is part of the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act.
