Democrats invite Eastern Cherokees to upcoming convention

The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians will be sending representatives to the upcoming Democratic National Convention in North Carolina.
Frances Marquez, of the convention's Office of Public Engagement, visited the reservation on Wednesday and asked the tribe to participate.
“The importance is that we are at the table,” responded Vice Chief Larry Blythe, The Cherokee Phoenix reported.
The convention takes place September 4-6, with a welcoming event on September 3.
