Eugene Boshey Sr., a former chairman of the
Bois Forte Band of Chippewa Indians in Minnesota, died on Monday. He was 80.
Boshey was first elected to the tribal council in 1982. He became chairman in 1988 and served in the post until 1992.
“Gene Boshey was a great leader not just for the Bois Forte people, but for all of Indian Country,” Chairman Kevin Leecy told The Mesabi Daily News . “I admire how he used his head while leading from the heart.”
Boshey served in the Korean War.
