The Confederated Salish and Kootenai
Tribes of Montana will distribute half of a $150 million trust fund settlement with its members.
The tribal council vote last week to authorize a per capita payment, The Missoulian reported. Each of the 7,800 members will receive $10,000.
“This action is an effort to strike a balance among the needs presented at the meetings, as well as planning for the future,” communications director Robert McDonald told the paper.
Tribal member Ramona Cajune wants the entire settlement distributed to members.
