Column: Ongoing series on Old Chief Joseph's Oregon gravesite

"The trail of the Nez Perce starts in Oregon, just off the north shore of Wallowa Lake.

That's where the memorial grave marker of Old Chief Joseph lies. It's a National Park Service-managed site, as part of the Nez Perce National Historical Park, and also the symbolic beginning of the Nez Perce National Historic Trail, manged by the Region 1 office of the U.S. Forest Service (headquartered in Missoula, Mont.)

Whether the full body is there is another issue."
