Shakopee Tribe looking into alleged odors from recycling facility

The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community of Minnesota is taking steps to address odors from its recycling facility.

The tribe hired an industrial hygienist and has set up odor monitoring devices. If any odor is detected, the tribe will adjust its activities at the facility.

"I am extremely grateful to the SMSC for working with us and proactively handling this situation," Shakopee Mayor Brad Tabke wrote on his website, Shakopee Patch reported.

The tribe recycles the city's tree materials at no charge.
