Grants awarded for renewable energy projects on reservations

The Arizona Renewable Energy Investment Fund awarded $1.26 million for renewable energy projects on reservations.
The REIF was established by a $5 million settlement between Salt River Project, Tucson Electric Power and the Grand Canyon Trust. Together, they choose programs on
“In the end, we selected eight well-planned proposals from organizations that provide essential services to their communities," Roger Clark, the program director for the Grand Canyon Trust, said in a press release.
The grants benefit the Hopi Tribe, the Hualapai Nation, the Navajo Nation, the Tohono O'odham Nation and the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.
