The
Lummi Nation of Washington is using a $500,000 grant to start an expansion of a housing development.
The tribe opened the Kwina Village Apartments in January 2011.
The 72-unit complex was fully occupied within "a couple months," the tribe's housing development planner told The Bellingham Herald.
The tribe is now planning to add 66 units to the complex
The $500,000 grant from the
Department of Housing and Urban Development will pay for roads and utilities that are needed for the expansion.
