Creek Nation pays $1.1M to city after taking control of business

The Muscogee Nation of Oklahoma paid $1.1 million to the city of Jenks, Oklahoma, after taking possession of a business there.

The tribe bought RiverWalk Crossing at a foreclosure auction last month. The $1.1 million was owed to the city for infrastructure improvements by the prior owner.

The property is now debt-free, paving the way for the tribe to have it placed in trust. But Chief George Tiger said the process hasn't started yet.

"That's something we'll really have to look at. We said all along, we want to be good neighbors," Tiger said at a press conference, The Tulsa World reported.

The tribe paid $11.5 million for RiverWalk.
