The
Crow Tribe of Montana hopes that promoting basketball, one of the most popular activities on the reservation, will lead more students into higher education.
The tribe recently opened the $10 million Health & Wellness Center.
It's being leased to the
Little Big Horn College, which recently joined the National Junior College Athletic Association and has awarded $56,000 in scholarships to promising athletes.
"We've beaten Cree, Assiniboine, Cheyenne, Blackfeet and Lakota Sioux. It feels good to our community to win these games," Athalia Morrison, a tribal member who just graduated from LBHC, told The Wall Street Journal.
