"Jenks officials hope that the Creeks, who recently purchased the RiverWalk Crossing out of bankruptcy, will turn out to be a good community partner. Here's the alternative: An expensive property, in a prime location, languishes, remaining mostly vacant and generating scant property or sales-tax revenues.
RiverWalk Crossing, on the banks of the Arkansas River in Jenks, is one of the most attractive properties in the area but under previous ownership failed to become a thriving destination since opening in 2005. Restaurants, with the exception of Los Cabos, one of the busiest restaurants in the state, came and went; boutique shops attracted relatively few customers.
In a few weeks, the Muscogee (Creek) Nation assumes ownership of the property after recently purchasing it for $11.5 million at a Tulsa County Sheriff's foreclosure auction. The tribe was the only bidder."
