The
Parole Board of Canada lacks adequate Native representation, a former member said.
John Dorion, the chief of the
John Cochrane First Nation, was a part-time member of the board from 2004 to 2007. He said it hasn't seen a Native member in years.
"I think they are bringing back that old colonial attitude where they think we are incapable of making decisions, because that's what the parole is, decision making," Dorion told CBC News.
The board has full-time and part-time members from across the country but wouldn't tell CBC how many are Native.
