BLM sets public meetings for Agua Caliente Band land swap

The Bureau of Land Management will host two public meetings next month to discuss a long-delayed swap with the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians of California.

An environmental assessment for the swap was released back in July 2010. But after extending the comment period repeatedly, the BLM decided to prepare a full environmental impact statement.

The public can comment on the swap, which affects land within the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument, at public meetings on March 22 and March 27. Written comments can also be sent to the BLM through April 27, according to a press release.
