Cooling-off period ends for rival factions of Picayune Rancheria

Rival factions of the Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians in California appear to be at peace as they prepare for a disputed election this weekend.

Reggie Lewis and Morris Reid each claim to be the rightful leader of the tribe. For now, it appears Lewis remains in control and is issuing statement as "chairman" of the tribe.

Tribal members will vote on Saturday to fill a seat on the council. The outcome could determine whether disenrollments continue within the tribe.

Reid and his supporters say they will stop the disenrollments.
