Ex-Mashpee Wampanoag leader will be released from prison

Glenn Marshall, the former chairman of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe of Massachusetts, will be released from federal prison sometime this month, The Cape Cod Times reports

Marshall was sentenced to 3.5 years on corruption and embezzlement charges. His release date was June 4 but his wife said he will be getting out earlier.

“That's very good news,” Paula Marshall told the paper.

Glenn Marshall is being held at a medical facility at the Butner Federal Correction Complex in North Carolina. Paula Marshall declined to explain her husband's health condition.

Glenn Marshall was chairman of the tribe when it gained federal recognition in May 2007.
