Huichol Tribe makes pilgrimage to fight mine at sacred site

More than 600 members of the Huichol Tribe in Mexico made 150-mile pilgrimage to a sacred site that's being threatened by a mining project.

The group offered prayers and made sacrifices at Wirikuta, a mountain they consider to be the portal to the world. They also held a ceremony at Cerro del Quemado, which is considered the birthplace of the sun.

A Canadian company, First Majestic Silver, and its Mexican partner, Real Bonanza, plan to drill mining shafts inside both mountains but they say the sacred sites won't be damaged.
