The
Cherokee Nation has a $1.06 billion impact on the economy in northeast Oklahoma, according to a report commissioned by the tribe.
The Tulsa World said the tribe provides $401 million in salary and supports 13,527 Cherokee and non-Cherokee jobs. About 9,000 people are employed directly by the tribe.
The study was based on the economic impact in the 14 counties where the tribe is based.
