A member of the
Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians of North Carolina is suing the tribe over sewage problems, The Smoky Mountain News reports.
Linda Lambert cited 17 different incidents in which sewage from the tribe's treatment plant overflowed onto her property and into a waterway. She is seeking $60,000 in damages.
The tribe acknowledges some problems with the system but insists Lambert and her family haven't been put at risk.
The tribe is updating its sewage system and treatment plant.
