Correction: The Peninsula Daily News reported that Lloyd Hatch was a member of the Tulalip Tribes. He was not a member of the Quileute Tribe.
Lloyd Hatch, an elder from the
Tulalip Tribes of Washington, died on Monday morning. He was 63.
Hatch drove the bus for the tribal school. He was on his way to pick up students when he experienced a “medical event" and rolled off the road, a state trooper told The Peninsula Daily News.
Hatch was “a respected elder and a dedicated member of our community,” the
Quileute Tribe said in a statement to the paper.
No children were inside the bus when the incident occurred.
