Indian woman sentenced to probation in child neglect case

An Indian woman in North Dakota was sentenced to probation after pleading guilty in a child abuse/neglect case.

Virginia Mara Adams, 25, allegedly wanted to kill her three children by running a car in a closed garage. There was no evidence the car was actually running when police found her, prosecutors said.

“She immediately took responsibility and immediately sought help for what was going on in her life,” prosecutor Leah Viste said in court, The Fargo Forum reported.

Adams has three children -- ages 6, 4 and 3. They are in the care of an unidentified South Dakota tribe, whose court will determine custody.
