Quinault Nation issued voluntary recall for processing plant

The Quinault Nation of Washington issued a voluntary recall of canned fish products after the Food and Drug Administration found serious problems at a tribal processing plant.

The April 2011 recall of almost 27,000 cans of fish likely prevented a food-poisoning outbreak, according to the FDA. The tribe has since halted sales of canned good and is only selling fresh fish.

"Quinault product is safe. It's fresh and it's the best you can get," Guy Capoeman, the CEO of Quinault Tribal Enterprises, told The Seattle Times.

The FDA inspected the plant in April 2011 and uncovered numerous health and safety concerns.
