The Lac du Flambeau Public School in Wisconsin received $28,000 for its Ojibwe language program while the Cherokee Language Immersion School in Oklahoma received $465,179 for its Cherokee program.
The Lac du Flambeau Public School will use the American Indian Language Revitalization Grant to incorporate Ojibwe language and culture into all grade levels.
The money came from the state Department of Public Instruction.
The Cherokee Language Immersion School also received state funds under the Oklahoma Charter Schools Act. The school has more than 100 students from pre-school to sixth grade.
