After gaining some attention from the
Twilight
series of books and movies, the
Quileute Tribe of Washington is hoping to educate a wider audience about its culture.
The tribe collaborated with the
Seattle Arts Museum
on the first-ever exhibit on Quileute history and culture. “Behind the Scenes: The Real Story of the Quileute Wolves” features art objects, some of which have never been seen in public, along with wolf headdresses, rattles, drums, ceremonial objects, historical photographs and video footage.
“We welcome any opportunity we have to educate the world about the true story of the Quileute people,” Chairwoman Bonita Cleveland told the Associated Press.
The exhibit opens at the Sealaska Gallery, within the
National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C., this Friday.
