George Skibine joins Washington DC firm after long BIA career

After a long career with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, George Skibine has joined SNR Denton, a Washington, D.C., law and lobbying firm.

Skibine, a member of the Osage Nation of Oklahoma, held a number of titles at the BIA. In addition to his job as director of the agency's Office of Indian Gaming Management, he served as acting assistant secretary, acting principal deputy assistant secretary and deputy assistant secretary for policy and economic development during the Bush administration.

Later, Skibine became deputy assistant secretary for management at the BIA. And during the Obama administration, he served as acting chairman of the National Indian Gaming Commission.

At SNR Denton, Skibine will focus on gaming and tribal land acquisitions.
