Seneca Nation begins enforcement of business license code

The Seneca Nation of New York is enforcing a business license requirement for the first time, The Buffalo News reports.

All businesses on the reservation must be licensed. Those owned by tribal members will pay $25 while those owned by non-Indians will pay $150.

“All individuals or entities doing business with the nation (or any of its wholly owned entities) and who do not currently hold a license are ordered to immediately file an application for the license within 60 days” President Robert Odawi Porter said in a press release.

Businesses that work with the tribe's gaming enterprise have 12 months to apply.
