The
New Mexico Museum of Art recently opened an exhibit featuring the works of Native photographers.
“New Native Photography, 2011" showcases 25 photos from 19 Native artists.
Participants include Vicki Monks, a member of the
Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma.
“I think photography is an important element in storytelling,” Monks told the Associated Press. “You can convey a lot of deeper meaning with photography and that adds to the body of storytelling.”
The exhibit runs through October 2.
