The
Karuk Tribe of California has been awarded a $1.14 million grant to improve broadband service for its members.
The tribe will use the money from the
USDA Rural Development Community Connect program to install a fiber optic cable and distribute high-speed Internet service using wireless technology.
About 570 members will benefit.
”My goal is to get service to everyone who wants it,” Eric Cutright, the tribe's information technology director, told The Eureka Times-Standard.
The tribe is working with
EnerTribe, an Indian-owned telecommunications firm.
