The Tulalip Tribes of Washington will open the doors to the $19 million Hibulb Cultural Center on Saturday.
The facility features a 23,000-square-foot cultural center, a 10,000-square-foot collections wing and a 42-acre natural-history preserve.
It will present Tulalip history from the tribal point of view.
"Who are we? Where did we come from? How did we get here? Where are we now? Where are we going? It's important not only for our people, but for the general public to understand these things," Hank Gobin, director of the cultural center and preserve, told The Seattle Times.
The boarding school experience, treaties and veterans are the subjects of current exhibits, which were developed in consultation with tribal members and elders.
