Graton Rancheria seeks cooperative agreement for county park

The Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria, also known as the Coast Miwok Tribe, is seeking a cooperative agreement with Sonoma County to develop a regional park.

The county already spent $31 million to buy the 3,426 acres for the Tolay Lake Regional Park. But public access is limited due to the lack of a master plan.

The tribe is donating $500,000 to help cover the costs of the plan. And Chairman Greg Sarris says the tribe wants to donate $2 million to $5 million a year for 20 years to state and regional parks.

The board of supervisors in the county will vote August 9 on an agreement with the tribe.
