Recount confirms results of Little Traverse Bay Bands election

The Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians in Michigan confirmed the results of a council election after a recount separated one of the winning candidates by one vote.

The council had four seats open. Bill Denemy, Winnay Jolene Wemigwase and incumbent Regina Gasco-Bentley were the top three vote-getters.

John Keshick III came in fourth, with just one vote separating him and Kevin Gasco, and just three votes ahead of Arlene Marie Naganashe. The close tally led to an automatic recount, which reaffirmed Keschik's election to the council.

The four winning candidates will serve four-year terms.
