Cherokee Nation moves forward with charter school proposal

The Cherokee Nation is moving forward with plans to start a charter school.

The tribal council passed a resolution to ask the state Department of Education to allow a charter school. If approved, it will be the first in the state, The Tulsa World reported.

The tribe wants to expand the Tsunadeloquasdi Immersion School to educate more students in the Cherokee language.
