Debora Iyall, a member of the
Cowlitz Tribe of Washington, made a name for herself as the lead singer of
Romeo Void, a popular 1980s New Wave band.
The band broke up after a string of hits and Iyall started a career as an art teacher. But now she's returning to the stage as a solo artist.
"Doing music again … sort of reignited my passion to do the very unique thing I do, which is to write songs, and sing the way I sing," Iyall told The Sacramento Bee.
Iyall will headline the Concert in the Park at Cesar Chavez Plaza in Sacramento tonight.
