The Washington Department of Natural Resources is investigating claims that members of the Muckleshoot Tribe illegally hunted black bears in a closed area of state land.
Department spokesperson Bryan Flint said it appears the tribe was given keys to gated land. "We are investigating to find out how this happened and why," Flint told The Spokesman Review.
Tribal members allegedly hunted for black bears with hounds and/or bait, the paper said.
