DOI to announce consultation process on land consolidation

The
Interior Department
will be announcing the consultation process for the land consolidation portion of the
Indian trust fund settlement
.
Judge Thomas F. Hogan gave approval for the government to communicate with Indian beneficiaries. A notice will be published soon in the
Federal Register
to announce the consultation sessions.
The settlement includes $1.5 billion to buy fractionated interests from willing Indian beneficiaries. The land will be transferred to tribal governments.
