Ex-employee files lawsuit against Indian arts organization

A former employee of the Southwestern Association for Indian Arts is suing the organization and its executive director.

Cheryl James was the coordinator of administration and finance. She is seeking money damages for breach of contract, intentional infliction of emotional distress, retaliation and other claims, The Santa Fe New Mexican reported.

James alleges she was pushed out by executive director Bruce Bernstein after raising concerns about his spending. She says Bernstein retaliated against her.

Earlier this year, SWAIA reached a settlement with a current employee who accused Bernstein of discrimination, retaliation and condoning a hostile work environment
