The board in Sauk County, Wisconsin, voted 23-4 to oppose the
Ho-Chunk Nation land-into-trust application.
The tribe wants about 600 acres placed in trust. County officials say they will lose about $700,000 in tax revenue if that happens.
"We are looking at it from the way it will impact not only Sauk County but other taxing jurisdictions, and then ultimately how it affects individual taxpayers," county administrator Kathy Schauf told the board, The Baraboo News Republic reported.
The plans to use the land for an IMAX theater, restaurant, cultural heritage center, strip mall and RV park.
