The
Cherokee Nation has donated $333,334 to create an endowed scholarship at
Oklahoma State University.
Combined with matching funds from the Pickens Legacy Scholarship Match program, the scholarship will provide $1 million for eligible Cherokee citizens at OSU.
"Partnering with Oklahoma State University through the Pickens Match in our education initiatives allows us to multiply the impact of our donors’ dollars in a significant way, while continuing our proud history of educational excellence,” Kimberlie Gilliland, the executive director of the
Cherokee Nation Foundation, said in a press release.
The tribe is the first to endow a scholarship at OSU.
