The
Los Coyotes Band of Cahuilla and Cupeno Indians is leasing land to a company for a
Department of Defense training facility, The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
The paper stumbled onto the site during a ride-along with a San Diego County sheriff's deputy. Two men -- Brian Bonfiglio, the former vice president of
Blackwater Worldwide, and Sean Roach, a motivational speaker -- were there and said the facility will be used to train U.S. troops to fight in Afghanistan.
The facility will feature five Afghan "villages" and "real Afghans" will be brought to the site to help train soldiers, according to the men.
The tribe declined to comment on the project.
