Yakama Nation seeing more business with its utility company
Tuesday, February 22, 2011
The Yakama Nation of Washington is moving closer to its goal to provide power to the entire reservation.
Yakama Power serves tribal offices, tribal businesses, the Indian Health Service and a tribal housing unit. The tribe recently struck a deal with the city of Wapato to expand service there.
"They're really excited and so are we," manager Ray Wiseman told The Yakima Herald-Republic.
The tribe believes it can undercut service from Pacific Power by about $20 a month.
