Chief of Muscogee Nation to veto resolutions affecting tribal courts

Leaders of the Muscogee Nation of Oklahoma continue to feud over the tribe's court system.

The National Council passed resolutions to remove Judge Patrick Moore, Attorney General Marcy Moore and Rod Wiemer, a special prosecutor, from their positions. Chief A.D. Ellis says he will veto them.

"I don't know what's going to come next," Ellis told The Tulsa World. "I'm just trying to keep the three branches of government separate."

Last year, Ellis vetoed a resolution that abolished the tribe's district court but he was overridden. He filed a lawsuit in tribal court and won but the council responded with another resolution that disavowed the authority of the district judge.
