The
Lummi Nation of Washington fired its general manager, who said he wasn't surprised to be let go.
Ted Wright, a member of the Tlingit Tribe of Alaska, was hired in July 2009. He had a five-year contract but he expected to be fired after the tribe elected a new chairman in November.
"I'm surprised they held off this long," Wright told The Bellingham Herald. "I don't hold any ill will toward the council. It's the nature of these kinds of jobs."
Chairman Cliff Cultee wouldn't discuss the reasons for Wright's firing but said it was nothing "personal."
