A member of the
Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation has filed a complaint against a Washington state trooper.
Andrea George, an attorney, was traveling on a highway on the reservation when her pickup truck skidded and landed on its side. While standing outside her car, she said Trooper Nick Hagg made fun of eagle feathers and made inappropriate comments.
"Born and raised in Omak, I am aware of the racial divide and was not immune to discrimination and prejudice,” George, who works for the
Puyallup Tribe, told The Omak-Okanogan Chronicle. “Still, I stood in disbelief as these public servants distastefully made fun of us and the Indian community after my family’s close call mere minutes after our accident.”
The Office of Professional Standards is reviewing the complaint.
