Health Canada said it has launched an investigation into the death of a man from the God's River First Nation in Manitoba.
Kirby Wood, 28, went to a nursing station on the reserve on Sunday and was sent home despite suffering from what appeared to be serious symptoms. He went back and died at the facility.
"The people in our communities question the quality of service from health care providers and consider the health care system in northern Manitoba as less than second class,"
Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak acting Grand Chief Garrison Settee said in a press release, according to news reports.
The reserve is also known as the Manto Sipi Cree Nation.
